During the short span of two and a half years, CIBG has successfully concluded diversified projects. CIBG team is focused towards the development of Shariah compliant structures which help meet the diverse financial needs of its clients. It has also established the first ever pure Musharaka based GOP guaranteed SLR Sukuk issue in addition to various other innovative financial solutions. Besides regular Diminishing Musharaka, Ijarah Murabaha, Musharaka, Shariah compliant derivative transactions, CIBG has worked on unique / transactions some of which are:

The spectrum of activities under the umbrella of Corporate & Investment Banking Group (CIBG) includes Structured Corporate Finance, on shelf products, Financial Advisory Services & Capital Market.

The core business of Financial institutions department (FIs) is to develop & maintain relationships with other local & international Financial Institutions & form a liaison between Treasury & other Financial Institutions.  The activities of FI and treasury are interdependent. FI takes approval of credit lines for Treasury, this helps the Bank to keep the cost of funds under control & manage the liquidity of the bank. The department’s effective liaison with major banks and FIs provide clean credit lines and confirm EGIBL’s LCs. FI also executes Islamic Derivative Transactions which result in cost effective liquidity generation for the bank

 

 

Corporate Deposit Desk This desk plays a significant role in effectively communicating with the bank’s country wide  branch network for providing foreign exchange sale and purchase services and to respond to their inquiries. It also provides competitive profit rates to valued non-core deposits. 

Foreign Exchange Desk This Desk focuses on fulfilling the foreign exchange requirements of EGIBL customers and clients along with covering all foreign currency transactions including those related to NOSTRO accounts.

Money Market Desk
This head is responsible for Inter-Bank Murabahah Transactions and is an active player in the inter-bank call market. The Money Market Products include:

  • Commodity Murbahah: To apply the liquidity in the inter bank market.
  • Wakalah Investment: To transact between Islamic Banks and Conventional Banks

 


Ahsan Raza Durrani – Sr. Executive Vice President
Durrani brings with him a rich 15 years experience in Investment Banking and Asset Management.  He has extensive knowledge and experience in arranging Syndicated and Structured Islamic Finance, based on the key Shariah compliant Banking tools such as Murabaha, Ijarah and Mudaraba. 

Educational Background: Chartered Accountant and Cost and Management Accountant.
Professional experience: Served as the CEO of Faysal Asset Management Ltd


Sikander Abbasi - Senior Vice President 
Abbasi has diversified experience of 20 years in Project Appraisal, Project Financing, Underwriting, Bridge Financing and Syndication.

Educational Background:  Abbasi is an MBA from Centre for Business Studies, Greenwich College, UK.

Professional experience:  He has worked for 14 years at PICIC.
Worked for four years as Country Manager Financial Deepening Challenge Fund, a project of DFID, Government of UK.

Holds experience as a discerning management consultant and corporate trainer.


Fazal-e-Rasul - Senior Vice President
Fazal-e-Rasul has 16 years of rich experience in the fields of Finance, Audit, Project and Structured financing.  He has very high level of skill & knowledge in Oil & Gas Sector.

Educational Background: BSc. (Honors) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, UK and is also an ACCA finalist.

Professional experience: Worked  with Orient Petroleum International as Manager in Business Development & Economic Evaluation department.


Atif Ghaffar Rana - Senior Vice President, Head of Financial Institutions
Rana has over 19 years of banking experience. The key areas of his knowledge and experience include Credit Process & Policies, Financial Institutions and Credit Risk Management.
Educational Background: Rana is a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management from UK

Professional Experience: He has been associated with United Bank Limited where he was managing the centralized risk portfolio of Financial Institutions as Head Financial Institutions Risk Management & SCO.

He has also been associated with Faysal Bank Limited and served in Structured Finance & Financial Institutions division.


Abdul Qader - Head of Treasury: Abdul Qader has a rich experience and in-depth expertise in both inter-bank and FX Markets.

Professional experience: He started his career with Standard Chartered Bank in 1985 and in this sixteen year long association he held various senior management positions the Treasury area including Head of Inter-Bank Market, Chief Dealer, Foreign Exchange and Senior Dealer, Treasury of Standard Chartered Bank.
